REVIVING ANCIENT CULTURAL TIES Indonesia’s unique “Indic Culture” moulds its people into a common identity that pervades much of the region too. Yet, these strong Indonesian links to the cultural mother country, India, have largely been neglected by both in their pursuit of more contemporary priorities of development and globalisation. The two countries share a culture that by any yardstick permeates many aspects of the lives of their people, from the fundamental elements of daily living to the more refined tastes of art, music and philosophy.
