Channeling Cultures: Television Studies from India


More than 30 years ago, when I worked part time for India’s state-run Doordarshan, it was the country’s only television station. Since then, over the past decade, a boom in the Indian media industry has led to the launch of several hundred channels.
Today, there are more than 800. Obviously this surge in growth in such a short period of time has come with significant drawbacks.
